Model Input

The Travel Forecasting Resource is organized around four major categories related to travel forecasting.  The Model Input section deals with the information needed at the outset of any travel modeling effort, most often based on observed behavior or existing conditions.  Model Input includes data, surveys and networks.  Models need data to ensure they are grounded in realistic behaviors and assumptions.  Data comes from a variety of sources like the U.S. Census, local government land use plans or demographic estimates and projections. Surveys are often used for the collection of specialty data related to area specific travel patterns and characteristics. They can be complex in both the methods used and questions asked.  Networks represent the transportation supply that is the subject of virtually all travel modeling and includes road, transit and toll facilities to name a few.

Are there other forms of model input that should be included in this category?  Use the Feedback button shown above and let us know!
