Transit Assignment Validation

The validation of the transit assignment procedure is really a validation of the modeling process used to forecast transit ridership.  The transit network and transit path-building procedures should be validated as part of the model development procedures.  The trip distribution and mode choice model components should be validated as they are developed.  The transit assignment validation combines the output of mode choice model with the transit network and path-building procedures.  In effect, the transit assignment validation is similar to the transit path-building validation with the exception that modeled transit trip tables, rather than observed trip tables from an on-board survey, are used in the assignment and validation.
